Rodrigo Medellín Legorreta

Founder of PCMM and Bioconciencia, he counts with 30 of experience in ecology and conservatio of mammals, over 100 publications and more than 20 graduated students. He directs the research avitivities in Bioconciencia, he is a researcher and professor at the Institue of Ecology, UNAM. He has received several nacional and International awards and aknowledgments from for his work in the conservation of mammals in Mexico. He is an advisor of national and International institutions such as CITES, IUCN and SEMARNAT.

   

Joaquín Arroyo Cabrales

Founder of PCMM and Bioconciencia, he is dedicated to paleontology of mammals and archeozoology in Mexico, as well as the ecology and conservation of Mexican bats. He is a full time researcher at the National Insitute of Anthropology and History, (INAH).

   

Laura Navarro

Founder of PCMM and Bioconciencia, she has coordinated the Environmental Education activities of the PCMM. She has designed and produced the educational programs on the feeding habits of bats, implemeting them sucessfully in numerous communities of Mexico, she has published 8 children stories on bat and has delivered courses and Workshops on Environmental Education and Bat conservation. Her initiatives have made her receiver of several recognitions at nacional and International level.

   

Osiris Gaona Pineda

Founder of Bioconciencia, she holds a masters degree in Restoration Ecology and she is an academic technician in the Institute of Ecology, UNAM. She has participated and coordinated next to Dr. Medellin, several activities for the conservation of biodiversity, she delivers talks and conferences on conservation ecology to several groups of people.

   

Cristina Espinosa Gayosso

Bioconciencia Grants administrador, she keeps track of fund reports and prepares new proposals with Project leaders for all the areas of work of Bioconciencia.

   

Maria Luisa Franco Morales

She joined the PCMM since 1995 and is the regional coordinator of Environmental Education, she has worked in the planning, designing and implementing of the educational programs and materials in rural and urban areas. She has delivered talks, courses, workshops and conferences in public and private institutions in several states of Mexico.

   

María de Jesús Teniente Franco

She is regional coordinator of Environmental Education, she has delivered the programs and other education activities in rural primary schools in the states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Michoacan, Morelos, Hidalgo and Chiapas. She colaborates with the design and production of educational products at the pcmm and brings talks and conferences for diferent people and institutions.

   

Claudia Galicia

She performs topographic maps and bat monitoring in different caves of the country, she counts with training in speleology, she gives support in different environmental worshops performed by PCMM and holds a Master Degree in Environmental Education.

                 • RECOGNITIONS AND AWARDS RECEIVED •
 

In February 2009, Dr. Medellin has been awarded the Volkswagen Prize “Por Amor al Planeta” in Mexico for his important scientific career and contribution to the understanding of biodiversity and the development of strategies for the conservation of mammals and their habitat in Mexico.

In January 2009, Dr. Medellin has been awarded the “Rolex Awards for Enterprise” as a support to save bats through protection and Education.

December 2007, Environmental Educator Laura Navarro received the "Overbrook Fellowshio", for the development of a book that tells the stories of bats with the prehispanic culture.

June 2007, Dr. Medelin received the “Aldo Leopold Award” from the American Society of Mammalogists "For outstanding contributions to the conservation of mammals and mammalian biodiversity".

2006, Environmental Educator Laura Navarro received the “Conservation Hero Award" from the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund.

2004, Dr. Medellin received the Whitley Award from princess Anne of England for his outstanding career in bat conservation.

2004, Dr Medellin received the “National Prize for Nature Conservation” from the current president Vicente Fox.

2004, Dr. Medellin receid the “Gerrit Miller Award” the highest honor from tne North American Society for Bat Research "In recognition of outstanding service and contribution to the field of chiropteran biology".

200, Laura Navarro received the “Educator of the Year Award" from Bat Conservation International.
