LATIN AMERICAN NETWORK FOR BAT CONSERVATION

The Program for the Conservation of Mexican Bats (PCMM by its spanish achronym), has supported the creation of new bat conservation groups in several countries of Latin America, including Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Bolivia.

In 2007, During the World Bat Conference celebrated in Merida, our team promoted the creation of a Latin American Network for the Conservation of Bats. Together with the teams from Guatemala, Brasil, Costa Rica, and Bolivia, we signed and agreement to work in a network to generate common long-term goals for bat conservation in the whole region, so the efforts generated are not longer isolated.

Currently, the Alliance has been gathered by 12 work teams from Latin American countries, where PCMM has asumed the representation and has commited to gather funds for a first meeting before 2010.
